Tin Star by Cecil Castellucci is a book that I won from Goodreads and is a story that I devoured as soon as I could. Tula Bane is beaten and left for dead on a small space station in the middle of nowhere. When her colony ship takes off with her family, Tula is lefts as the last human in a place where her kind are seen as trouble. Tula must find a way to survive and live along side the different races of alien that inhabit the station.

When three humans crash onto the space station, the life Tula Bane has built for herself is completely turned up-side down. For the first time in a very long time Tula must interact with her own species and she discovers that her home planet is in danger of being under the rule of the man who left her for dead.

I don’t know what I was expecting from this book, but whatever it was, this story was so much better. Castellucci finds a way to put her readers on a lonely space station with strange aliens and no other humans. Tula’s voice is calm, calculating, and she is a very independent character. I am so glad I won it!
